treatment of contents of sand collectors / street gullies

Aufgabestellung

The contents of sand collectors, street gullies are treated in a recycling work. The sludge is washed, separated into the different materials and sizes and at least resold as a useful material.
The washing water is polluted with fine sand, organic matter and other street waste particles.
The flow rate is about 80 m³/h.
The big particles are separated in a Leiblein-sandseparator (e.g. particles > 63 µm). The particles are removed with a screw conveyor. The separation capacity depends on the effective surface. In this case 20 m² clarification surface (eff. surf.) is necessary. Because of the use of inclined lamellas, the clarification surface can increased from 7 to 20 m², with the same casing. Now the plant owner can safe investment and space costs. Another advantage is the increase of effectivity. See also the function specification of lamella separator.
After passing the sandseparator the water flows to an Leiblein lamella separator. Here the finer waste particles are separated. The clear water flows into a basin and is ready for further use as washing water. The particles sink down onto the lamellas and slids down into the sludge funnel. To avoid blocking of the sludge a scraper is stiring in the funnel. The sludge level is detected by a sensor and if sludge is in the funnel an eccentric screw pump conveys the sludge to a bandfilterpress for dewatering.
