A potato peeling factory had problems with their waste water. A lot of potato starch was in the waste water and causes increasing deposing costs.
The Leiblein company developed a new process to separate the starch and to reduce waste water costs.
The separation occurs without chemical aid. The drained starch can be used e.g as pig feed.
A sieve reduces the bigger particles. From a buffer basin the medium is pumped with a constantly flow rate into a Leiblein lamella separator. The starch is separated by the lamellas and is collected in the sludge funnel.
The sludge is pumped into a Leiblein drainage container intermittently.
The effectivity of the principle of operation is proved over several years at different applications.
In one application the mount of 9.7 ml/l settleable particles could be reducted to 0.1 ml/l, in another case from 61.5 ml/l to 0.5 ml/l.
The concentrations in the sludge funnel were 400 - 600 ml/l. Different further conditioning of the sludge are available, dependingon further use.
Sample application potato peeling factory:
At a purification capacity of 0.4 m/h a good separation result could be reached.
| clarification surface | : 19 m² |
| flow rate | : 8 m³/h |
| settleable particles inlet | : 9.8 ml/l |
| settleable particles outlet | > 0.1 ml/l |
For example a flow rate of 8m³/h and a purification capacity of 0.4 m/h requires a clarification surface of 20m².
